Garlic Shrimp With Chili Crisp

  • Author: Louise
  • Total Time: 18 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons chili crisp (adjust to taste)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for a hint of sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust as needed)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Shrimp

Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. This helps achieve a nice sear when cooking. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).

Step 2: Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil and sesame oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.

Step 3: Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and slightly golden. Be careful not to overcook them, as shrimp can become rubbery.

Step 4: Add the Sauce

Lower the heat to medium. Add the chili crisp, soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar. Stir well, ensuring the shrimp are evenly coated in the flavorful sauce. Let everything cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to slightly thicken.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately over warm rice or noodles, and enjoy the bold, spicy, and garlicky flavors!
